Alberta and Alaska sign MOU with vision of mutual economic benefit
Right off the heels of his trip to Washington D.C, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney has announced that while attending the National Governors Association meeting in the US Capitol Premier Kenney signed an MOU with Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy.
Kenney and Dunleavy signed an agreement that would work in collaboration on both the provincial and state economic recovery.
“This agreement revitalizes Alberta’s long-standing relationship with Alaska and creates new opportunities for growth in many of our key sectors, which we hold in common. Strengthening ties between our two jurisdictions is more important now than ever as we work to recover and grow our economies," Kenney said.
The MOU between the 51st state and the province supports the work of the Alaska-Alberta Bilateral Council to engage in areas of mutual interest.
According to the Province of Alberta, Albert exports approximately $157.7 million in goods annually. Top exports included energy, machinery, and wood and wood products.
