Canada Votes 2025: UMNB President Brittany Merrifield

We are past the half way mark in the 45th Canadian General Election, which is scheduled for April 28th, 2025.

From housing to infrastructure, From bail reform to resource development, and from agriculture to social services, municipalities across Canada are tackling a wide range of challenges.

But they can’t do it alone. They need a strong and reliable partner at the federal level to help build stronger, more resilient communities.

Today we are heading to the East Coast, to focus in on the Province of New Brunswick.

IN the 2021, the Liberal Party of Canada under then Prime Minsiter Justin Trudeau garnered 42.4 per cent of the vote winning 6 of the 10 seats in the province.

The Conservatives under then Leader Erin O’Toole won the other 4 seats in the province winning 33.6 percent of the vote.

The NDP and Greens failed to gain any seats in the province during the last election.

In the 2019 Federal Election, the Green Party of Canada won their first-ever seat in the province.

and in the 2015 federal election, the Liberal Party swept the province with all 10 seats going to the Liberals.

While in 2011 the Conservative Party took 8 seats the NDP won one seat, and the Liberals were reduced to one seat in the province.

Today to talk about the province and what Municipalities are looking for from their local candidate, party leaders and next federal government we are pleased to be joined by Union of Municipalities New Brunswick President Brittany Merrifield.

So, without further ado, let’s go!
