Changes is Coming to PEI

Welcome to Municipal Affairs.

Today we have a very special guest—someone at the forefront of municipal leadership and advocacy in the Province of Prince Edward Island.

Joining us today is Bruce MacDougall, President of the Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities. Bruce has been a strong voice for PEI’s municipalities, working to ensure that local governments have the tools and support they need to serve their communities effectively.

A lot is happening right now in the municipal and provincial landscape in PEI, so we have plenty to discuss.

From leadership transitions at FPEIM and at the provincial level to the ongoing need for infrastructure investment, housing development, and economic resilience, these are issues that directly impact the daily lives of Islanders.

And of course, we will be discussing some of the bigger challenges ahead—how municipalities are tackling housing shortages, securing funding for vital projects, and adapting to economic pressures, including new U.S. tariffs that could impact local industries.
