Diamond Valley Councillor Resigns, No By-Election Set
Diamond Valley will operate with one less councillor for the next 15 months, as the Town has chosen not to hold a by-election following the resignation of Councillor Veronica Kloiber.
According to Diamond Valley’s Chief Administrative Officer, Adam Davey, Councillor Kloiber resigned from her position effective July 18, 2024.
In her resignation statement, Kloiber said, "Unfortunately, the timing isn’t ideal for the people of Diamond Valley, but I have to do right by my family first. A move to a new community is what is needed. It has been an honour to serve as an elected official for the residents of Black Diamond and Diamond Valley.
"I have learned so much in my time on Council and the lessons and friendships I’ve made will not soon be forgotten. You are in good hands; your Council wants what is best for this community, and the administrative team is talented and dedicated. I wish you all the best and thank you for voting for me not once, but three times," the outgoing councillor stated.
First elected to the Town of Black Diamond Council in 2017 and re-elected in 2021, Kloiber joined the inaugural Diamond Valley Council after the town's amalgamation in November 2022.
Mayor Barry Crane expressed his appreciation to the outgoing councillor, stating in a press release, "On behalf of the Council and staff, I extend our deepest gratitude to Councillor Kloiber for her unwavering support and dedicated service to our community over the past many years. Her fresh perspective and commitment to excellence have been invaluable to our work as a Council.
"It has been a sincere privilege to work with Councillor Kloiber. We wish her every success as she embarks on the next chapter of her career and personal pursuits," Mayor Crane added. The next general municipal eleciton is scheduled for October 2025.
