Former CPC MP Signs Batters Leadership Review Petition

She might have been turfed from the National Caucus but that isn't stopping the former Conservative Senator from continuing her crusade to review the leadership of Erin O'Toole.

Earlier this Week, the Twitter account @MembersVote announced that former Brantford-Brant MP Phil McColeman had signed on to the petition calling for a review of O'Tooles Leadership.

In a corresponding statement, McColeman said that Conservatives of all stripes are stronger when they are unified, "Delaying a leadership review until just prior to the next election will only serve to fracture our Party.

"A leadership review in 2022 gives us an opportunity to either unite behind O'Toole or enough time to galvanize behind his successor to win in 2023," the statement read.

McColeman stated that he was honoured to sign the petition, "I applaud Senator Denise Batters for putting forward this petition."

McColeman served as the Member of Parliament from 2008 to 2021 when he retired. During the 2020 Leadership Race, McColeman threw his support behind O'Toole to lead the party.

The petition launched on Monday morning by Saskatchewan Senator Denise Batters has, according to media reports, over 3,700 signatures as of publishing.

Batters was kicked from the National Caucus Tuesday night.
