Over the three-day event, a new Board of Directors and table officers will be elected to guide the organization through the coming year. Each province will select board members to represent their municipalities.

Four Manitoba municipal leaders have announced their candidacy to represent the province on the national board. The candidates are Sheldon Friesen, Councillor of Morden, Joe Masi, Councillor of Portage La Prairie, Marvin Plett, Councillor of Winkler, and Laurent Tetrault, Deputy Reeve of the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie.

These four candidates are competing for three available spots.

Manitoba has five seats on the National Board of Directors. One seat is appointed by the largest city in the province, which will continue to be held by Winnipeg Councillor Jeff Browaty.

Another seat is appointed by FCM's affiliated association, the Association of Manitoba Municipalities, and is currently held by its President, Kam Blight, who is also the Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Portage La Prairie.

Over the past year, Blight, Browaty, Masi, Plett, and Tetrault served as Manitoba's representatives on the National Board. Voting is expected to take place on Sunday, June 9th
