Rail Safety Week in Canada

Welcome to Municipal Affairs.

As communities across Canada continue to grow and expand, rail safety has become an increasingly important issue for both municipalities and the public.

Rail Safety Week, an annual initiative held across the country, plays a vital role in raising awareness about the dangers of railway crossings and the importance of safety near rail tracks. This year, Rail Safety Week is focusing on the shared responsibility of communities, governments, and railway companies to keep people safe.

Joining us today to discuss rail safety and how communities can engage in reducing accidents is Jenelle Saskiw, spokesperson for the Railway Association of Canada.

Jenelle will provide insight into how individuals, local authorities, and railway companies can collaborate to enhance safety measures, as well as highlight ongoing public education efforts. She’ll also discuss what railway companies are doing to ensure safety on and around railways, and how Rail Safety Week aims to promote life-saving practices.

From pedestrians to drivers, schools to municipalities, rail safety is a collective responsibility, and Jenelle is here to share important safety tips and updates on how Canada is leading the charge in preventing railway incidents. *************************************************** Links Mentioned in today's episode:
